Colorado Carpet Masters had a client this week that ran into problems while using a Rug Doctor to clean up a few dog urine stains over the weekend. When we arrived at their home we found a white Berber carpet that had huge yellow stains everywhere. Upon talking to our new client we discovered that she rented a Rug Doctor and cleaned the carpet herself. When she woke up the next day she discovered twice as many stains as the day before. She thought that she was pulling up old urine stains from a previous owner and decided to keep the Rug Doctor an extra day. The second cleaning went even worse than the first and she thought that the carpets were ruined. She finally called us to try and fix the problem.
Rug Doctor Carpet Cleaning Problems usually are not caused by a defective Rug Doctor or a defective operator. The operator was very smart and pleasant even after a traumatic carpet cleaning experience. Rug Doctors have a difficult time creating a good vacuum seal on Berber carpet and they tend to vibrate and bounce on the vacuum stroke which leaks out all the dirty water. These puddles of dirty water become large yellow stains when they dry and they look like urine stains. We gave the carpet a light pre-spray to loosen the dirt and then used a special glide wand which creates a good vacuum seal and we were able to return the Berber carpets to a nice bright white color absent of the urine stains and water stains.
